Last friday I parked my 2004 ford f150 and didnt drive the truck again until sunday. When I started the truck the battery was dead and then I realized the inside light had been left on for nearly 48 hours. I got the truck jumped and drove 2 pep boys and had the battery replaced. Since then the check engine light has been on and upon slowing down the truck has died out 4 times. I contacted pep boys and they said my truck needs to adjust to the new battery which sounds like b.S. This isn't my 1st vehicle and I've had the battery changed before without this problem. Any suggestions?

What happened here is the battery got disconnected and the computer now has to go thru relearning itself-Have the computer scanned for code/s-this is your starting point of diagnosis

Your first step would be to go to a auto parts store like auto zone and have them scan your car for codes.I need the exact code numbers. Then we can make sure the battery cables are clean and tight. We may have to remove the negative battery cable for 30 seconds and put it back on. Sometimes when batteries go bad and there changed the computer gets confused and sometimes you have to take the negative battery cable off and put it back on. It also takes a little while after changing your battery for the monitors to reset your o2 sensor egr etc.
