2004 Ford Explorer Repair Question

Ford Explorer Battery Problem
I left head lights on and ran battery down when i went to jump it the starter doen't seem to engage. put in new battery same thing. what do i do i am desprate.

the battery itself may be the issue if it does not take a jump.
