Hi, I have a 2004 Dodge Intrepid SE it is an Automatic transmission. I was driving around 45mph and the car completely stalled. This isn't the first time its stalled, it has stalled before when switching between reverse and drive. The car will not start now. I tried it a few times and it sputtered and almost started. Now it will not turn over at all. You can hear the belt spin slowly when I try to start it now, but nothing else. The check engine light has been on since I got the car years ago, but was told it was a dead fuse or something causing it. Also, more recently I have noticed that when I come to a complete stop the oil light comes on, but when I start moving again it shuts off. I checked the oil and it seems to be fine, its not low or anything like that. Also recently the engine has been sort of clinking/sputtering (kind of sounds like a muscle car but not nearly as loud). I was told that if a car is low on oil it will make a sound like that. Anyways I am getting the car towed soon but i'm curious as to what might have caused this, and what the issue is, and also how much price wise repairs would be.

--Do below to determine if its a fuel or spark problem

Get a helper disconnect a sparkplug wire or 2 and ground it to the engine at least 3/16 away from ground -have helper crank engine over-do you have a snapping blue spark? If so-you have a fuel related problem, Do you hear the fuel pump come On when you turn key on? If not check fuel pump fuse and fuel pump relay if so, check the fuel pressure to rule out the fuel filter/fuel pump/pressure regulator and listen to the injector/s are they pulsing or hook up a noid light. No snapping blue spark continue to troubleshoot the ignition system-power input to the coil/coil packs, coil's resistances, distributor pick-up coil, ignition control module, cam and crank sensors and computer Note: If it doesn't apply disregard it.
