last time it started it would not shift into overdrive gear, got a warning light on the ABS and parking brake, also the Blower and AC would not work. I've tried jumping, recharged the battery and have re placed the starter. With a cheap multi meter I get a voltage reading at the starter solenoid.

What is the actual voltage reading? In the diagram, the red wire is hot all the time. The purple wire at the starter solenoid, goes hot with the key in the crank position. I looked at a c1500 Sub.

6.4 at battery, 6.4 at starter solenoid RED, when the ignition is turned on there is 0.0 at the starter solenoid purple.

I agree. With the key in the crank position shouldn't drop below 10 volts, possibly 9.5 volts.

Maybe the meter is faulty? That voltage reading is no good, I don't care which vehicle battery you tried it on, unless all the batteries were really low.

do you have a drawing on the purple wire that goes to the starter. Is it straight off of the key switch?

the ingition switch is on the lower steering column.check the purple for start signal there.if ok you need to make sure the purple wire is on the s terminal on the selonid and your getting start signal when your holding the key in start possition.you can do all this with a test light.allways trouble shoot dont just start replaceing parts.
