I have a 2004 Chevy Silverado 1500 4x4 completely stock with the torsion bars cranked all the way up. Currently it has 265/70/R16 GeoTrac tires on it. After researching through some forums and asking guys with similar vehicles, I have been told that putting a set of 285/75/R16 BF Goodrich AT's on it would be no problem especially with the Torsion bars cranked. I recently talked to a mechanic at a shop and he claimed that it couldn't be done. Can you really not put these tires on with the current set up and if not what would need to be done in order for this to be posisble?

tlak to the tire people about that size. you should be able to do it but it might hit the fenderwells when you turn. The only thing with the t-bars jacked up is that they are prone to breakage.
