My BMW 325i (185,000) lost power as I was driving & the engine light went on. When I brought it in they said it registered as running lean. They diagnosed it as a bad catalytic converter and installed a new one. I drove the car home and the same thing happened so I brought it back & they said the other catalytic converter was bad. I replaced the second one and the car is still not running well (lacks power) & the engine light is on again. Any suggestions?

The first thing we as technicians do is to confirm the customers complaint. During that process, all the history and work that has been documented, the age, condition and mileage of the car, any outstanding recalls or software updates, sometimes the model or production date of the vehicle can be necessary in offering you the end user the options that are generative to the mutually beneficial outcome of he repair. I run a BMW repair facility and I see a lot of bad diagnosis out there. I think you have something I can help with but there is not enough information to form an opinion to give as to what to do.
