Where do I find the connection for an error code reader in my 2003 Jetta TDI?

Under the dash above the foot pedals (pink in color).

I believe it has a little door covering it.

Generic scan tools might not show all stored codes or talk with all the modules in the vehicle. The best
Aftermarket scan tool that is close to Dealer Capacity is: VCDS from http://www.ross-tech.com (PC based).
