My wolkswagon Jetta 2003 standard wont rev above 3000 RPM why

It drives fine but wont rev above 3000 rpm suddenly out of no where help!

It could be a plugged catalytic converter. Disconnect it temporarily and see if that makes any difference. If so, replace the converter. If not, have it scanned for both soft and hard codes and let us know what turns up. Many shops will do this for free.

Your vehicle is in limp mode. MAF, cam/crank engine speed sensors, etc can cause the vehicle to go into limp mode. And like rivermikerat stated, a plugged converter can also cause this. Scan the vehicle, there will defintetly be one or two faults stored.
