My tazz shakes when I suddenly accelerate and hesitates before picking up speed. Then while driving I smell petrol. When I brake the engine cuts out. It then wont start and petrol is running out. I think from the carb. To fix it the carb was replaced and the base plate and gasket replaced. I still have the same problem. Im getting desperate now and repairs that didn't work have been costly.

Thank you for your reply. Im in South Africa and the car does not have a computer etc. The car is old, 2003 model. Im just not sure what else to look at since the carburettor, baseplate and gasket has been replaced but the problem is still there.

If it's flooding and it's a carb something is either caught in the needle and seat or float level is to high. If it's out of adjustment with the float it will have to come apart and be overhauled. But you can try this: emove air cleaner and start car. Rev engine up and while doing so hold choke plate closed and keep reving with choke plate closed or almost closed. Do not let it stall out by all means. Then open choke plate and let it clear it self out with it revving about 2500 rpm or so. Then let idle. Let it idle for about a minute then shut it off. Then restart with air cleaner on and see if it does the same thing that it did. If you can adjust the carb all the better. If this doesn't cure it it will probably need a carb overhaul.
