2003 Pontiac Montana Repair Question

Topics covered: Door, Speaker, Stereo.
Mileage: 100,000 miles.

Asked on January 11, 2012

The passenger door speaker shorts out intermittently. How do I diagnose the source, and repair.

I tried removing the door inside cover to check the speaker connections, but can't figure out how to do this properly without forcing the plasic pins holing it on!
Failing that, how do I access the stereo unit in order to check connections there?

The plastic pins are fragile, but they do pop out. Then you need to remove the plastic moisture barrier. You MAY be able to remove the speaker without removing the moisture barrier. Most likely, the problem is where the wiring enters the door.
