2003 Nissan Altima Repair Question

My 2003 Nissan Altima won't shift into drive from park on a cold morning for 5-20 seconds. Once warn the transmission operates fine. Any ideas as to what the problem is?

Is it the shifter that won't move or the trans doesn't work?
