2003 Mercedes Benz 220cdi Repair Question

Usually good starter, not today. Will not start only turns over.
Non starter today. dash shows no malfunction. Engine turns and at first started but only for one second. Now only turns but does not fire at all. I am no mechanic so easy words please. Merc dealer over 40 mls away. Have sprayed with water repellant - no joy. Tried to move auto stick in case bad connection - no joy. New injectors 10 months ago. Plenty of diesel in tank. Car stands o/side - wife reckons it is just damp???

could check glow plugs to make sure they are getting power. could also try squirting WD40 or similar into intake to see if fires which would indicate fuel supply problem.

Did you resolve this? I've got a similar problem on my 2002 e220. Seems to do it intermittently. Normally can get it started eventually but it can take many attempts.
