Check engine light came on and local auto parts store checked diagnostic and said it coded as a bad oxygen sensor. How quickly do I need to have it repaired? Will it cause me to be stranded? I am 18 and have to drive it daily to college about 60 miles round trip. Please advise. Thank you for your help.

You should replace it as soon as you can. It will cause the engine to run very rich and use more gas. Also, other things can be damaged if it is running rich. They are easy to replace. One wire needs disconnected and then you can screw the sensor out of the exhaust. As far as leaving you stranded, unlikely, but it is possible.

Let me know if you have other questions,
