Ok so ive had my jaguar for about 2 weeks. It is a 2003 jaguar x type. Ive been running regular 87 grade unleaded gasoline in my car and had the light just come on today out of nowhere. I had it plugged up to an engine diagnostic code reader and it told me my fuel was too lean. So I wanted to know if I put the 93 grade recommended premium gasoline in with the quarter tank of 87 grade fuel will that fix my problem and get my check engine light to go off or should I run the 87 grade gasoline out before refueling with the recommended 93 premium fuel?

Because you have a jag you are probably supposed to use premium fuel how ever if you are getting a lean code premium fuel will not cure that that is a sign of low fuel pressure or an injector problem. Most of the time it's low fuel pressure which on your car should be 47.9psi minimum at idle. If not it will cause the p0171 or 174 doe to come on. However you are a genius and I know your cars run as you diagnose what is wrong with them by changing fuel while you drive.
