Honda Civic Brakes Problem

My 1 front caliper seized so I need new brake for that 1 side- Must I put new brakes on the other side to balace out?this is what i am told must happen for safety & that they don't just fix the broken side, the other side must get new brakes too--to balance the ride?
*these front brakes were just replaced 3 months ago!

You can't buy half a set of brake pads. Of course you can just replace on one side but the side that is not replaced has already settled in whereas the new one needs some setting in so braking would be different and might pull. Why not install the new set on both sides and keep the pads that is rather new for future use if it is ever needed?
