JUST WILD GUESSING--HESITATION MAY MEAN MISFIRING. CODING MAY NARROW ALL OF THIS DOWN....QUICKLY AND WITHOUT GUESSING AND SPENDING $$$ JUST THROWING PARTS AT IT
BEFORE YOU START MONKEYING WITH STUFF!!!!!!
SEE IF YOU CAN MAKE IT DOWN TO THE LOCAL POPULAR AUTO PARTS STORE
THEY HAVE PORTABLE SCANNERS AND THEY WILL BE ABLE TO EXTRACT ANY CODES YOUR COMPUTER HAS GENERATED (THE REASON THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON)NORMALLY THIS IS A FREE SERVICE
THE SCANNER WILL PICK UP A CODE(S) (STUPID MAKE-BELIEVE EXAMPLES ARE P0123, P0124)
SOMETIMES THE AUTO STORE FELLERS WILL OFFER SUGGESTIONS AS TO WHAT MIGHT BE WRONG, SOME CODES ARE OBVIOUS, OTHERS MAY BE INTERPRETED DIFFERENT WAYS IN CONJUNCTION WITH YOU CARS SYMPTOMS
YOU CAN "GOOGLE" THE CODES (I LIKE A SITE CALLED "OBD CODES.COM" , IF YOU PUT YOUR CODE IN THEIR SEARCH BOX, THEY USUALLY HAVE A SECTION IN THERE "POSSIBLE CAUSES"), YOU CAN SORTA GO BY THE PARTS STORES SUGGESTIONS, OR YOU CAN BRING THE "EXACT CODE NUMBERS AND LETTERS" AND THE CARS SYMPTOMS BACK HERE (NOT THE SUGGESTIONS), AND MAYBE WE CAN OFFER A SOLUTION TOO
THIS IS THE SITE I LIKEHERE'S AN EXAMPLE ON HOW TO USE ITREMOVE THE "P0117" AND INSERT THE CODES YOU COME UP WITH, ONE AT A TIME
I USUALLY COMPILE INFO FROM SEVERAL SOURCES THEN COME UP WITH A BATTLE PLAN....GENERALLY THE CHEAPEST WAY OUT TRIED 1ST...FROM MY MOST RELIABLE SOURCES
IMMA JEEP CJ GUY AND RESPOND BETTER TO THEM, IF I AM UNABLE TO OFFER ADVICE, I WILL LOCATE ANOTHER FELLER HERE THAT MAY BE MORE EXPERIENCED WITH YOUR VEHICLE----MANY WILL JUMP IN ON THEIR OWN TO HELP WITHOUT ME LOOKING FOR THEM
DEPENDING ON THE PROBLEM THIS COULD BE SOMETHING SIMPLE AND A EZ DIY REPAIR......HOPEFULLY IT WILL BE AN INEXPENSIVE FIX
SOMETHING LIKE THIS MIGHT AID YOU ALSO, I SWEAR BY 'EM
WAITIN' FOR YOUR RESPONSE....REGARDLESS OF HOW YOU ATTACK YOUR ISSUE, WE DO LIKE TO HEAR GOOD OUTCOMES!
MY WIFE HAS THE SAME RIG AS YOU
IF YOU HAVE THE 3.0L, YOU MIGHT REMOVE THE PLASTIC LID OFF OF THE ENGINE AND LOOK FOR THE SOURCE OF THE BURNING OIL SMELL
ALSO---DID YOU GET THE RECALL NOTICE FOR THE CRUISE CONTROL CABLE?
PIC 2 WAS TAKEN WHILE REPLACING #6 COIL PACK, AND THE SPARK PLUGS WHILE I WAS IN THERE---I HAVE JUST PUT THE PLENUM BACK ON (AS IT COVERS THE BACK 3 PLUGS AND COIL PACKS)..........THIS AUTO ENGINEER SHOULD BE TAKEN OUT BACK -- TORTURED AND SHOT!!!.......OK, I MEAN TICKLED TO DEATH WITH #s 4,5,6 COIL PACKS.......THIS PIC WAS SHOT WHEN I WAS ABOUT TO PUT THE COVER BACK ON
I HAVE PICS WITH THE PLENUM OFF TOO---DIDN'T WANNA SCARE YOU YET!
