Ford Escape Noise Problem

2003 4wd ford escape V6 cd4e transmission. It slips into gear then grabs then slip again, same with reverse. There is also a light rattle/grind noise up front. At first I thought it was the tcc solenoid so I replaced that but obviously didnt fix it. Im going to start tearing into it this weekend and would like to get a direction. Thanks in advance for any advice.

if the fluid level is correct, then the filter may be clogged. otherwise you have an internal failure

Yeah its okay but is a little burnt. Ive changed it twice to get all the old fluid out and kinda flush it. Im thinking maybe tc but im not sure because of the noise. Its not like gears grinding it more of a slipping rattle.

torque converter is possible but i would have pressure testes done to pinpoint the issue rather than guess
