Drop in power when accelerating

When I am accelerating (normal acceleration) in the range of 25 to 40 mph, every once in a while it feels like the car "hic-ups" I brought it to one mechanic who said I need a tune-up (spark plug, wires, solenoid) and I asked another mechanic to take it for a ride and he thinks it is something in the drive train. When the hic-up occurs the tack does not drop and it is becoming more frequent. I original thought it might be a bad CV joint, but there is no noise when turning and the problem occurs on perfectly flat and straight stretches of road. There are no warning lights and the engine is a 3.3 liter. Any ideas out there?

If there is no check engine light, chances are it isn't a missfire. It could be in the driveline, but that is hard to tell. What I would suggest is to have a transmission tech drive it to determine if something with the trans is the problem or engine. If you never had it tuned up, chances are that it needs it. It could be a missfire that doesn't last long enough for the computer to pick up on it.
