Why is my starter slow at disengaing from flywheel.

I just had a transmission rebuild and new torque convertor and flywheel installed. Now the starter is not returning fast enought grinning whinn noise. Ireplaced starter twice with a brand new starter tried shimming starter still the same Called tranny guy he checked and asured me the right fly wheel was installed What else could it be.
