when we start the car we smell gasoline and while it is idoling\We have lifted the hood and looked .We don't see anything

Check all fuel lines between the fuel tank and the engine. Check fuel rail, injectors... Gas evaporates quickly, so you need to either check for leaks while it is running or when you first shut the engine.
