Turn key to acc. Nothing turn key to run all waning lights flash erratically, engine turns over strong but won't start. Headlights, turn signals work. Dash lights, dome light and radio do not. I can here fuel pump relay click, but cannot her fuel pump come on, usually you can. I plugged in to the OBDll port with key in run possition and scanner says it not connected. The only code from before was for the secondary air inject system. Cannot read any codes now. A few months ago a had a communication error code, but I did nothing and it just went away on it's own. My thought are short? Ignition switch? Or BCM? Or ECM? Problem? Any thoughts on your part would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have found no blown fuses. The scan tool will power up under it's own power via 9 vt battery whether it's plugged into the car or not. Usually it will power up automatically when you plug it into the cars OBDll port but now it does not. With the scanner plugged in and turned on, manually, with the key in the run possition, or any other positions, when you tell it to run diagnostics it tells you it's not plugged in. I had this problem a few weeks ago once, but it seemed to be just the one time untill now.

Just got home from work, car sat all day. Tried to start just for the neck of it, car started right up. Ran diagnostics with scanner, come on automatically when I plugged it in, came up with old code, P0410, plus two new codes, P0341 cam position sensor, and P0702 transmission control system electrical. No other pending codes, all I'm moniters read ok. Shut car of and restarted fine. Took car for short driv, ran fine, shifts fine, automatic trans, shut off when I got home and it restarted fine. I'm confussed. I did nothing to the car but check fussed and relays?

If the gas and temp gauge didn't work then I would suspect a bad body control module.

Would that require any reprogramming when replaced? And would that make sense that problem would come and go? I really appreciate your help, thank you so much.

Yes I could see it come and go I have seen them fail on a hot summer when the inside of the car gets really hot then the car cools down and it works. It would have to be programmed with mileage calibration file options etc. When they fail all different kinds of things don't work. The fuel gauge inop and the rest of the inop stuff points to a bad body control module.I have a tester one I have I plug in to make sure that's the problem. It would also explain you not being able to use your scan to link to the car. It goes thru the body control module to talk to the engine computer.
