Every now and then ( usually when cold ) it seems like the gearbox drops a gear and the gear selection display starts flashing. To cure this you have to stop, turn the engine off then restart. Any ideas please?

There is an error in the transmisison ontrol or sensor circuits and you need a scan tool to retrieve the trouble codes to understand what is wrong.
