Check engine light on what could be the problem??

The general recommendation from all of us would be to start with a scan of the fault codes present and go from there. The check engine light can be on for a lot of reasons, too many to list here. that is the reason the scan is requested. Who knows, it might just be that the gas cap was not reinstalled correctly!
