Nissan Altima Check engine light Problem

Altima 2002 will not rev higher than 1000 rpm and will not drive faster than 5 mph. No noise or anything preceded this happening. car was operating normally then after light I stepped on accelerator and the car had no power. it only revved to about 1000 rpms , and drove at 5 mph. if I talk for if accelerator the car idles fine. if I step on gas it tends to 1500 that's all she does. if I step on and off accelerator it will repeat the same as above. any thoughts? tranny or throttle Boby issues? thanks.

It sounds like a sensor issue. Is the check engine light on? It could be a throttle position sensor. If the check engine light is on, have the computer scanned to identify trouble codes. Most parts stores will do it for free.
