The horn went off by itself and was a constant sound then would go in short bursts then full again. The car was locked and not running. It had to be shut off by the remote. Not sure if the alarm malfunctioned or why this would of happened

Could be the alarm was triggered. Were you able to stop the horn from sounding when you used the fob to unlock the doors?

This is the famous "horn pad failure" and the only fix is to disconnect the horn at the fuse or.(Drum roll please) replace the horn pad assembly which of course includes the air bag! Our Rodeo had this issue, but not the 02 Monty, not yet.

Quote "It had to be shut off by the remote."
If it is a horn pad failure, the above would not work.
