GLS 6CYLINDER WITH WHAT SOUNDS LIKE A VALVE TAP
2002 Hyundai Sonata • 100,000 miles
The car sat for awhile i changed the oil added some lucas and it went away for about 3 months and now its back and i only put maybe like 400 miles on it in those 3 months
Is it constant? only on cold start? does it change in noise level with different rpm/temperature?
Ya it stays there even after car has warmed up and it gets faster with rpm's
You might try a heavier grade oil? or pull valve cover and inspect for visible defects.
Ok thanks on that style motor there's no lifters right
What motor do you have just to be exact.
Pretty sure its the 2.7 6 cyl
Has hydr lifters directly under cam lobes on top of valve. a single tap could be something else or just 1 bad lifter.
It is advisable to replace all lash adjusters as you do not want to repeat the job again if a second one fails in the near future, remember that they all have done the same amount of work, so another failure may not be far away.
