Honda Other Smell Problem

Have a 2002 honda acura cl type s 5 speed auto transmission. There is a 5 - 10 second delay when shifting from park to reverse to forward, etc. The d5 light continuiously flashes. Checked code and shows p1753 a/t lockup solenoid failure. How do I proceed in testing the solenoid? Or is there another problem?
