I have an 02 honda civic ex that is overheating. I was wondering if not having the lid to the coolant reservoir would effect that at all?

No, it is just a reserve tank with no pressure. What is your issue?

When the pressure builds up the coolant is gonna come out of the reservoir due to its not sealed -start by checking the thermostat
