2002 gmc envoy suddenly my dash "growls" and all my gauges flip to zero--then it comes back on

Check the wiring behind the dash to make sure all connections are tight. Check to make sure body ground straps under the dash are tight and undamaged. If all is good there, you may need to replace the cluster.
