2002 Ford Ranger Repair Question

Im wondering what this hose is for and why its leaking coolant

I have a 02 ford ranger 4cyl 2.3L and there is a 1/2" tube coming out of my firewall by the heater core that is leaking coolant

You sure its not the heater control valve bypass hose tubing

i dont know what it is but its leaking all my coolant out

That is the heater control valve.

and since its leaking all the time im guessing i need to new heater core?

I think you're right. It looks like the drain tube below the control valve is wet. There used to be a 4" rubber hose hanging down from it to help keep debris and cold air out.

and since im puting in a new clutch guess ill be pulling an engine lol. thank you for your help.

I don't know what an engine has to do with a heater core.
