The valve dropped on my head and blew a hole in my number one cylinder. I want to replace the head but not sure if anything else can be wrong with the block. What are my chances the block is still good?

Hello,

There is a good chance that you could have damage to the block. This type of scenarios put quite a bit of stress on the engine.
The best course of action should be have the block checked out by a machine shop.
As they will be able to check for cracks as well as any distortion or any other damage that might not be visible.
This way you don't have to guess if the block is good. And you won't end up doing all the work for the cylinder head if the block is bad.
