Do you suggest putting a screwdriver into the plug cap and then earthing it on top of the engine?

No. Have no got any spray. Can hear fuel pump kick in when turn ignition on. Checked round vacuum hoses for leaks and air filter is fine. Whether there is petrol coming through I have no way of knowing. Tank is full. Engine was running perfectly prior to this.
