I just had new 2 struts, 2 sway bar bushings, alignment, 2 rear wheel cylinders, rear set shoes, and 2 new front tires done. I still have a clicking sound when I turn, but not always. My current mechanic told me I now need a new axle. Why wouldn't the work done take care of the sound and is his diagnosis accurate? After the work below has been done, is the axle necessary to be done AND on a car of this age is this the start of continuous work to be done?

worn cv joints on axles are noted for clicking during turns. unless boot is ripped (loss of grease) this does not mean it's gonna fail(break) soon. actually the loudness and raspiness of sound indicates how far gone it is. i have driven on a clicking axle for 5,000 miles or more.
