Chrysler PT Cruiser Timing belt Problem

I bought my PT a year and a half ago w/ approx. 82,000 miles on it. How would I know if the timing belt was replaced at the proper interval, according to the owner's manual 60,000 miles, without spending the money to have it replaced now. I intend to drive the vehicle till the wheels fall off.

You won't be able to know. For ease of mind, remove the cover to check the condition of the belt.

If you are unsure, I would strongly recommend replacement straightaway. If the T-belt fails, you will not be at all happy, consider it an insurance policy.
