car wont start

ran my car out of gas last night..first time ever wass running fine before and now wont start...just makes the sound as if its out of gas..someone told me there could be air in the line but im not sure i kniw the filter could be could also. was told there was something that looked like the stem of a tire that was supposed to be pushed but i have no clue where this is and i looked and looked

Look on the end of the fuel rail, under the hood for the schrader valve. Note the picture.

When you first turn on the key, no crank, can you hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds? Use a fuel pressure gage on the schrader valve.
