when i turn my heat on in the car i can smell antifreeze for about a minute then stop. then i hear water sound under the dash board.

you need a new heater core ,the sound of water indicates a restriction in the core itself,but the odor of antifreeze indicates a leaking heater core.so both of you symtoms indicate heater core issues= you need a new heater core.
