Hi, I have a 2002 bmw318ci convertlabe, I was on the motorway and my oil light flashed up red(I had only 2 weeks previous had it serviced at a garage), the engine began to make a growling noise almost instantly so I pulled over and the engine lost power and has never started since, The electrics don't even come on. I was told that it could be my engine blowing up, but having looked at the car I can still use the gears and the engine head itself seems fine, I can't figure out what the problem could be and I hoping it could be something fairly simple?

A blown engine wont cause the electrics to not come on, but a failed alternator and dying battery will. The alternator bearings may have burned causing the growling. Smell close to the alternator for a burnt smell, and charge or jump the battery to another car and see if the electrics come back
