2001 Volvo S40 Oil Leak Coming Down Back Side Timing Belt Cover Does Leave

I have an oil leak.. it looks like it is coming down the back side of the timing belt cover... it does leave a good amount of oil on the ground. HELP!!!!

You would need to have the timing belt covers removed to inspect and see where your oil leak is coming from? Could be the cvvt hub, cam seals, or piston cooling valve?

It is comming from the vvt hub. can any one show me how to replace the o ring behind the vvt.?
pls. it seem no one in the entire internet has this instructionor video or manual. can any one
please guide me. i had the special tools from ebay. to hold the camshaft.

Higly appreciate it.

If it's coming from the button that pushes against the outer gear on the hub it's a simple repair. Undo the three Volvo bolts and throw them away. Replace with cap screws. You can loosen them with a small vice grip or 12pt socket before you loosen the tensioner. You won't disturb the VVT hub when you slip the gear off. I used an o ring with 8.8mm ID and 1.9mm cross section. It's dry as a bone. If it's coming from behind the hub it's a cam seal.
