Volkswagen GTI Compression Problem

I found a nine inch sping in my drivers foot well this morning. peddles feel ok not sure where it is from?

is it a compression or expansion spring, may be a pedal assist return spring.

also may be a seat adjuster spring if it is that long

It helps in raising and lowering the seat.

I can post a picture after work (I don't work for 2carpros) tonight.
