Why wont my car start if left for more than a few days without being started?

I have a VW Golf 1.6 16v. I am having trouble with my electrics. I recently returned from a 6 day break away from home without my car. My dad tried to start the car on the 5th day away but it would not start. I had to use jump leads to get it started. This has happened before during shorter periods away without using the car.

I forgot to say I only just replaced he battery in october last year

You need to check for electrical draws on the battery. Go to our homepage under the DIY section for directions.
