How do I remove the water pump belt on volkswagen cambrip so that I can replace the alternator belt

Removing
Loosen Generator (GEN) mounting bolts -1- and -2- at least one turn.
Press down generator with lever 3297 and remove ribbed belt from generator pulley.
Remove V-belt for power steering pump. Refer to POWER STEERING PUMP, SERVICING (VEHICLES WITH 1.8, 1.9 AND 2.0 LITER ENGINES).
Remove ribbed belt.

Installing
Install ribbed belt on crankshaft vibration damper/pulley and on coolant pump pulley.
Install V-belt for power steering pump
Refer to POWER STEERING PUMP, INSTALLING.
With lever 3297, push generator down to stop at least 3 times to ensure ease of movement.
NOTE:If the engine has not yet been installed in the vehicle, stop here and continue the installation procedure after the engine is installed.

With lever 3297, push generator down and place ribbed belt on pulley.

While generator is still loose, start engine and run at idle for at least 10 seconds.
NOTE:Follow tightening sequence when tightening generator mounting bolts. Do not lean on generator and do not touch ribbed belt.

Tightening sequence:
Tighten mounting bolt -2- to 25 N.M (18 ft lb).
Tighten mounting bolt -1- to 25 N.M (18 ft lb).
Belt drive with tensioner
NOTE:Before removing the ribbed belt, mark its running direction so that it can be reinstalled the same way.
When installing, be sure belt is correctly seated in pulleys.

Removing
Lift belt tensioner with special tool 3299 to relieve belt tension, and remove belt from generator pulley.
NOTE:Illustration shows belt drive for vehicles without A/C. Belt drive for vehicles with A/C. Refer to RIBBED BELT DRIVE WITHOUT A/C.
