2001 Subaru Other Repair Question

Why does make Outback start shifting hard between 2nd and 3rd gear but subsides after motor is warmed-up?
The first 20 min or so thr car wants to hesitate and***** in between 2nd snd 3rd gear. Though after the engine is run after a while the hard shifting is gone.

Run a scan and check for a faulty coolant temp sender, also do a general tune up as this often fixes odd problems like this, if the coolant temp sensor is out of range the ECU can be in lean run and this call cause driveability problems when the engine is cold. A general scan will pick up on any other unresolved fault that may need attention.
