Pontiac Grand Prix Battery Problem

I have been having some trouble starting my car the past few days. Occasionally, when I go to start the car, the electrical systems all stop working and the car wont start. I cant turn the key all the way front or back but I can take it out no problem. I find that if I just wait a few minutes it will start but I am worried. I just repleced the battery about a month ago and had my rack and pinion steering replaced if that matters. Do i have a bad battery connection or do i have an alternator problem? Thank you!
