2001 Pontiac Grand Am Repair Question

If a muffler falls off where its bolted under a car cause it not to start it's a 2001 grand am...
Its come undone where the bolts are and then latches on to another part under the middle of the car. The part came off while being towed out of a ditch. Wondering if this would cause the vehicle not to start after a while or function?

It will not cause it not to start unless the catalytic converter is clogged-up
