how are the wires to be matched up when the colors are not the same?

Sometimes at connectors wire colors do change. You would have to specifically tell me what you are working with and I can try to findit on a wiring diagram. Also it may be an aftermarket part. If that is the case you will have to vcontact the aftermarket manufacturer.
