I have a peugot 206, 1.1 W Reg (2001) - Car starts ok but when driving has intermittent problem where power seems to be being lost although lights, horn, wipers etc still work. Car starts ok but whilst driving looses power, lights wipers etc all ok, problem is rectified by switching engine off and back on but then reappears again after about a mile

Check the grounds. Check the battery connections. Check the charging system output. Have it scanned for codes.

Hi thanks for reply, need to change 1 of the battery terminal connectors as loose, have packed it out at the mo and secured (it is the earth One), tested battery last night, it had been stood for a day and read 9ah 12 vlt, started car and let it tick over for bit then turned off and checked battery again, readings were 12.4 vlt but ah had dropped to 6ah so obviously something draining battery whilst running? Any ideas? Somebody has mentioned it could be the earth to the alternator or fuel filter needs changing? Help :(

It could be the earth ground connection for the alternator. Start the engine and check the alternator output to the battery with the engine running. Then turn on the headlights and see if there is any jump.

If you're able to check high currents, see how many Amps the alternator is charging the battery at. If you are able to check amperage up to several hundred, perform a load test on the battery. The rating should be on one of the labels on the top of the battery.
