I HAVE A 2001 OLDS ALERO, HOW IMPORTANT IS THE FRONT AIR DAM TO THE STABILITY, COOLING, FUEL MILAGE. IT IS CONSTANTLY GETTING TORN UP ON PARKING LOT CAR BUMPERS (STOPS) AND I DO NOT DO A LOT OF HIGH SPEED DRIVING, PROBABLY LESS THAN 9000 MI PER YEAR. CAN. LET ME KNOW IF I CAN JUST REMOVE THE FRONT AIR DAM WITH NO ADVERSE ISSUES PLEASE

The real reason is it makes it look good, but besides that, it prevents any foreign materials from coming up into the engine area.
I would take it off now but would get another one up there when you can.

THANK YOU ROY, I AM NOT A NOVICE AT AUTO ISSUES, JUST OLD AND FROM THE OLD DAYS WHEN WE DIDN'T HAVE FRONT AIR DAMS. I APPRECIATE YOUR ANSWER AND IT WAS ALONG THE LINE OF MY THINKING, I JUST WASN'T SURE. MY INTENTION WAS AND IS TO PURCHASE A NEW DAM FROM JCW AND MODIFY THE LENGTH BY A COUPLE INCHES TO REMOVE THE CONSTANT PROBLEM OF GETTING CAUGHT ON PARKING LOT CONCRETE BUMPERS. AGAIN THANK YOU.
