Daughter ran out of gas

Daughter ran out of gas. Wouldn't start. Fuel pump seemed too weak to pump the fuel up. Replaced. Primed engine and it will start and rev as long as continue to prime but will not stay going.

How are you priming? There is no priming a pump. They are self priming

Not prime pump but start it by poring gas directly into engine. Can rev it up and as long as reving then it will run but will not start without pouring gas in and will not stay running without reving.
