The engine cranks but will not start?

I have power to turn the starter over and I hear the fuel pump start when I turn the key, but the engine won't start. I do not know where the fuel filter is located on this vehicle; the fuel pump I assume is under the back seat. I have not checked the plugs. I don't know if is getting the correct pressure or anything. Any help would be appreciated.
