2001 Mitsubishi galant died appeared to be timing belt, but it was intact if I had a oil plug replaced when I got an oil change a couple weeks ago and it came out would it loose compression?

I have serviced faithfully, and oil changed every 2000 miles. However it stopped on a rainy day and would not start. Mechanic stated that it appeared to be a timing belt broke however it was still intact. Stated that the engine had no compression when using the gauge. He said the engine apparently had blown a gasket. My question is if I had a new oil plug replaced less than two weeks ago could it perhaps have fallen out and caused the problem?

Timing belt might look intact when some teth have been stripped.

While cranking the engine, check if the belt is turning together with the crankshaft.

Yeah, reading the question again, I'd say you probably didn't lose the oil plug. Most likely you lost a couple teeth on the timing belt.
